Staff at Standish Community High School were delighted with the many success stories this year, but none more so than Y11 student Jamie Holt, who achieved a brilliant set of exam results despite struggling throughout his final year of school with a serious foot injury. Jamie, who achieved five Grade 5s, a Grade 6 and a Distinction, spent a considerable amount of time in Year 11 in hospital but never let his long-term absences get in the way of his studies. His teachers commented on his positive attitude and willingness to work independently on all tasks set in order to catch up and achieve as well as he did. Mr Peters, Deputy Head at Standish, said, “Despite the setbacks, Jamie never lost his cheerful disposition; we organised a personalised timetable to allow him to catch up whenever he had to miss school and he worked incredibly hard alongside his teachers in each subject. We’re all so delighted for him!” Everyone at Standish would like to wish Jamie all the best in the future.
