Staff at Standish Community High School were delighted to be able to celebrate Y11 student Jacob Jenner’s outstanding successes in his GCSEs this year. Jacob achieved five Grade 8s, three Grade 7s and a Distinction in his nine subjects – placing him in the top ten of the entire year group. All this success comes despite Jacob battling serious illness not only throughout his time at Standish, but also during the key time of his transition from primary school. It’s testament to his resilience and determination that Jacob has achieved such stunning success – as well as the support of his family and the staff who worked with him on his five-year journey at Standish. Head of School, Mrs Barker had the following to add: “I know that Jacob has always been keen to be treated like any other student and has never asked for special considerations or help – but everyone who knows him and has worked with him here at Standish just wants him to know how proud we are of him and how happy we are to see him get the rewards he so richly deserves. A great set of exam results is so important for your future – but even more important is your character; by that measure, Jacob is destined for a very bright future indeed.” Everyone at Standish would like to wish Jacob well as he goes on to college and beyond.
