There was no drama on results day for Standish Community High School’s Deputy Head Girl, Lucy White this year as she picked up a glittering set of results to go with her already stellar achievements in the world of theatre as an aspiring young actress. Earlier this year, Lucy was nominated for and won the NODA (National Operative and Dramatic Association) award for ‘Best Female Youth Lead in a Musical’ for her role as Bridget in ‘A Slice of Saturday Night’. This success came on the back of her wowing audiences at school productions in roles such as Nancy in ‘Oliver’ and, more recently, as Glinda, The Good Witch in ‘The Wizard of Oz’. Despite this hectic schedule of extracurricular success, Lucy still somehow found time to study for her GCSEs, achieving a Distinction, four Grade 7s, three Grade 8s and a Grade 9. “Lucy is not only incredibly talented, she is also one of the most determined, organised and hard-working students I’ve ever taught,” added Mrs Gannon, Head of the Performing Arts at Standish. “She deserves every bit of her success – both in and outside the classroom.” Everyone at Standish is convinced that Lucy is destined for success and have been delighted to help her on her way for the last five years.
