Jamie has been playing the cello for 7 years. He says that it started with free lessons in year 4 from the Wigan Music Service where they had everyone play one of the instruments, either a cello, viola or violin. From this humble beginning he moved quickly into the Wigan Junior String Orchestra and then into the full Wigan Youth Orchestra. From here he was “scouted” to play at several prestigious locations including the Royal Northern College of Music and Chatham’s School of Music in Manchester.
Last year the Greater Manchester Youth String Orchestra invited him to play with them and Jamie has never looked back! Playing with this level of talent has developed Jamie’s cello playing even further and then the call came…… “Would you be interested in playing at the Royal Albert Hall?”
Jamie didn’t hesitate and accepted the offer. Please see the amazing pictures of Jamie in this amazing arena. What an experience!!!
Everyone at Standish would like to wish Jamie all the best as he manages long hours of practice and performance with his studies.
