During October 2018, Standish CHS experienced another fantastic football academy tour to Valencia FC. The students experienced professional youth training sessions during the 5 day visit, training alongside all teams from the Valencia Academy Youth Teams all the way up to the La Liga club’s first team too .

Students had the opportunity to take a cultural visit through the city’s famous riverbed – which has been converted into a stunning series of parks and recreation facilities – and to see the iconic landmarks of Valencia’s old town – such as the historic cathedral and bull ring. The boys were also lucky enough to be able to take in a first team match at the Mestalla stadium where Valencia drew 1-1 against Leganes after a controversial VAR penalty was awarded to the visitors.

The students were praised to the high moon for their behaviour, commitment to training and overall attitude throughout the visit. Another successful tour, with hopefully many more in the future to come!

A big thank you to Mr Barker and the staff who supervised the trip. Amunt Valencia!
