It’s time for the MangaHigh Boss of the North competition once more, and it’s up to the students of Standish Community High School to defend their school’s title as the 3-year reigning champions.

But what is Boss of the North? It’s a free, online maths competition for Key Stage 1 to Key Stage 4, where schools across the North of England will compete with each other on Mangahigh’s games-based learning platform. Students earn medal points by completing games and activities on Mangahigh. All points accumulate towards the school’s running total.

There are several prizes available to both the schools and individual students. The school in first place at the end of the competition wins a £250 Amazon UK voucher, and all the schools positioned elsewhere in the top ten will win a £100 Amazon UK voucher. Not only that, but the top 10 students will be awarded a £10 Love2Shop voucher – nice! Every student also has the chance to win a real Mangahigh medal, which will be sent out in the post. The aim is to score 150 new medal points during the competition. Students can track their progress on their profile on the Mangahigh website.

We’ll keep on updating this post with how our students are performing as the competition in Boss of the North continues to heat up. Best of luck to all students taking part!
